About Us

ABOUT US

We provide outstanding care, education, and therapeutic support for young

people aged between 8 and 17 years old.

At Winfred House, we work towards meaningful outcomes for all the young people who live with us.  With guidance of an experienced team, our staff work in a person-centred way, the child is always at the centre of what we do and think.  We are all committed to supporting children in line with core values of empathy, unconditional positive regards and authenticity.

We want the children we work with to be happy and do well whilst they are placed with us, both academically and socially. We believe that each member of the team is a role model and provide our young people with important learning opportunities through their interactions and play. It is through this, that young people develop meaningful relationships and attachments that act as the blueprints for later life.

Choosing alternative accommodation for a child can be a daunting and difficult decision. At Winfred House we will ensure that you are provided with all the necessary information about our home, staff and the care provided, so that you have a better understanding of our ethos, in order for you to make an informed decision.

OUR REGISTRATION

Winfred House is registered with Ofsted to provide care for up to three young people aged between 8 and 17 years with emotional behavioural difficulties. We will always aim to admit a young person following an assessment, which will address presenting problems, identifying needs and their suitability for admission.

Our aim is to provide young people with planned care. Each young person’s stay may vary dependent on need. The young person will be provided and supported with Behaviour Support Plans or Pathway to Independence Plans when appropriate, and individually tailored education and skills-based work programmes, working closely with

external educational provisions. Winfred House will also support a young person to move into independent living if the case arises.

Our admission procedures are sufficiently flexible to take account of urgent situations, and we can fast track an admission, if all appropriate information is available prior to admission. A full history of the young person’s situation, previous placements are fully assessed to ensure suitable matching. Winfred House prides itself on choosing the right placements for both the young person and the home, to ensure there is continuity of care for the young person and to also ensure that the young person succeeds and has positive and healthy outcomes.

Throughout the placement within our Home, Young People will experience a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment, boundaries, and structured care; delivered by qualified, skilled practitioners that are able to provide close supervision.

Our Aims & Objectives

We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, yet stimulating

environment in which young people, whom have previously experienced emotional trauma, social and academic failure, and rejection, can stabilise their behaviour. At Winfred House

we believe that, wherever possible, young people benefit from living within a family. We recognise that for some young people, this is not always possible and that living in a

residential home can be the most appropriate alternative.

Residence

At Winfred House we support and encourage our young people to investigate ways to achieve their individual goals through feeling cared for and feeling their worth in the comfort of a homely environment. We aim to create a therapeutic environment in which

we work with the young people, enabling them to live, learn and develop together.  Respect and dignity for each young person.  An atmosphere conducive to personal growth.  A caring, nurturing and stimulating environment.  Supporting education packages for each young person.  Providing a continuity and consistency of care that will benefit the young person as a whole.

Staff Ethos & Approach

Staff at Winfred House place the Young People at the heart of their work to create the best residential experience possible. Our residential culture places great value on caring,

openness and honesty & encourages staff to have a pragmatic & inquisitive outlook upon the care they provide. As trust develops between young people and the professionals at Winfred House, we

anticipate that we will be able to help young people identify and understand difficult events from the past and present in relation to such issues as attachment, development, childhood and relationships.

Staff will aim to equip young people with knowledge and skills to allow them to make informed choices.  Staff will also work in partnership with parents, professionals, the public and the young people to give them the chance to live a positive, constructive life within the community.
